US OPEN

I know it has been a number of weeks since the US Open, but I just had some things to say, that I didn't write beforehand. This years majors I could not have been more excited to watch. The Masters is the Masters and what made it exciting for me was the venues of the other three majors. Pebble Beach, St. Andrews (the birth place of golf), and Whistling Straits which is in my state. Before this year I was excited like I said, but then Tiger had to go and mess everything thing up. I couldn't wait to see him back at Pebble after his beyond comprehinsion performance in 2000, where he was the only person under par and was twelve strokes better than second place. Even with the Open being at St. Andrews I am not as excited, because of Tiger. No he is not my favortie golfer, but he is golf. If he is not in a tournament or isn't playing well, it does loss its luster. I hope it gets back to some norm next year at least. I am not expecting anything from him for the rest of the year.

One other disapointment came from my boy Dustin Johnson. I just can't believe how he messed that up so badly where he didn't even have a chance to play better and come back.

I am going to my first major this year at Whistling Straits. I am only going to Monday and Tuesdays practice rounds, but I think that will be a little better for me, since I really want to see how players go about their business during the week. The only bad thing is that I have no idea when players will be teeing off, and I do know they like to go off real early in the morning so that will suck to get up that early.

THE OPEN is coming up this week and I can't wait. Phil hasn't been playing much and missing the cut at the Scottish Open and Tiger isn't up to par yet. I have no clue who will perform at the Open. Off the top of my head I am like Eduardo Molinari right now.

GOLF TIME

With the Florida swing over now with the conclusion of Bay Hill and the Masters starting next week, it is time to talk about the season so far and other things on my mind. The most recent excitement for me is the emergence of Ernie Els again. Welcome back Ernie, it has been waaaaay too long for you to be the man again. I do understand he had much more important things on his mind personally. He is just a true gentleman and any charity cause is lucky to have him. One good thing to come out of this is that at least one big name is taking advantage of the Tiger-less part of the season. Not too many people consistently stepped up like Ernie did. I just hope that it continues and that he doesn't choke anymore when he plays with Tiger on a Sunday.

The Masters is coming up and i can not be more excited. One because it is the Masters and two because I have off that entire week so I can watch every second of every minute. One interesting thing to watch for is the Tiger news conference which will be on Monday April 5 at 12:30ct on the Golf Channel. I am just wondering what dumb questions the reporters will ask and what overall will Tiger say. I don't believe at all that he will talk about anything, but golf and since the Masters control everything about their tourney probably the questions will be controlled to. Did you know that the tickets to the Masters are passed down in the family?

I am not going to lie I am disappointed in Phil these number of months and I think a number of golf people are too. With no Tiger it was supposed to be the Phil show. It was but not with the great play that I know he can play. When he doesn't do well at the West Coast swing then you know there is some problems. His wife and mother both are battling cancer which seems to be not too bad from what I hear. I just hope we can see the Phil we all know and love at the Masters.

tiger of course and some other randoms

I am sorry for the non of you who follow me, but i am not used to updating my blog. Now that the 2k10 season is about to start i felt that i should give some of my takes that have come to mind.

First things first and i am going to talk about tiger. After listening to the many stories and tv sports writers talk about tiger it is just a crazy story that i still cant believe. when i first heard the news that no foul play happened at 3am just a couple of yards off of his house you knew that had to be bs. after the story has been reviled more and more its gets harder and harder to imagine what has happened. I'm sorry to some of you out there, but golf is a gentleman's game to me and the best golfer possibly ever at least top 3 should be the ultimate gentleman like the king and the golden bear are. no matter how much fame and fortune you have i still feel that does not give you the license to f up your families life. I feel really bad for elin and now the two children they have together, and it seems like a divorce might be happening or huge prenuptial after getting who is considered the best divorce lawyer around. as of right now i have no respect for the man after the stories that i have heard about of course sleeping around and being terribly loud and rude and cursing in restaurants. as a "man" he should know how to act. now i guess his father was also a womanizer, but tiger did not like that and should know better. I always cheered for him cuz i want him to break records, but now i could care less. the best athlete in the world and supposedly great gentlemen turned out do be a dbag. also, if its true about him using hgh from the doctor that is being investigated or other medicines like that. tiger i will officially be done with you.

i'm sorry i would like to post more but the season just seems like forever ago. here are a few memories.

1. major surprises
2. the fall of the big names and supposed to be risers (sergio, pady, ak, camelo, vijay, i consider ogilvy cuz he didnt do anything after the first couple of weeks)
3. sticker you are a true gentleman and i cant stop loving you when you win and cry
4. tigers bay hill putt again
5. the crazy us open
5. yang lifting his bag and saying hello to the world
7. tiger major less
8. tiger losing a 54 hole major lead on sunday

Bristol Oaks Country Club 9-25-09

tee boxes-6.5- I look it the look, up keep, and lay out of the tee boxes. i thought the lay out was pretty good. i know its hard since the course does have a number of trees, but they over hang on the back boxes with makes you have to tee it up on one side of the box where i wanted to go on the other side. Also, they weren't cut when we played and i hate that.

greens-7- Greens are in pretty nice shape. Since they let the public play they are used a little bit more. Also, since the club is semi-private they are a little more unjulated than a regular muni course. So, reading the greens and picking the right line is much more critical. Also. the edges of the green just fall off. so suggestion, when in doubt just hit for the middle of the green and do not go after the pin if its to the right back or left of the green. The ball rolled pretty true sometimes it was hard because of fall starting and leaves were everywhere. messed up one birdie and par putt.

lay out- 7.5- I thought it was down really well. It gave challenging and also straight forward tee shots to use your imagination. I like that it was designed like a golf course should be there. I hate it when someone just wants a golf course and doesnt put much thought into it, but it seems like they did here. Not a long course a lot of short holes in all of the pars very few 400+ par 4's. I was pretty satisfied with it. There are trees but not a lot of trees to totally destroy your round if you find yourself in them. a well balance of trees of help fit your eye. Sometimes I thought there should be some more along the fairway, but trees were pretty perfect amount.

Price/value- 6.5-8. The greens fee is 27.50 which should be just right i feel. If they wanted to they could go as high as about 36 i feel and that would be great for getting the course in really great shape. Which i feel they should since they do call themselves semi private. If you go to golf now you can get the course for 27.50 with cart and tax included so can be very worth it.

Overall-7.5- I judge this based on would i go back again and again. I really enjoyed this course. Its not hard. It was a 70 on the handicap index so plays 2 under. Nothing tricky about the course. Not long at all and you dont have to play driver if you dont want to. You can play strategy if you want and still have 6 iron or under no problem. The greens are find and i kind of liked the challenge of reading the greens, maybe that is why i putted pretty good. Since it is a semi private course you can tell in some areas of the course. I would like it to get even better. It is hard being in Wisconsin i know, but it was a very nice course. I highly recommend.

TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

What i dont understand is why id they finish the entire round today before it aired on television. Thanks to player Stewert Cink on twitter is was, because of the down pour later that day. So PGA Tour i appologise.

Broadlands Golf Club

Broadlands is my favortie course that I have played so far in my life. You do need to make sure that you can carry a drive or you will be in long grass all day. The only problem is that the greens car a little crappy from people not fixing their divot marks and it can be expensive, Keep looking at golf now for deals.
